Family Adventures Ministry

The Meadow Vista Church operates a family based ministry that caters to families with children 6 to 14 years of age; but the Ministry is not limited to this age group. The intent of the Ministry is to have both a spiritually and socially rewarding experience for the youth, and provide an opportunity for the youth to invite friends and neighbors to participate with them. The parents are expected to participate with their children in the various activities and are responsible for them, especially with those under 6 years of age.

The theme behind this Ministry is found In Malachi 4:4-6, where God promised to “send Elijah, the prophet, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which was fulfilled in the person of John the Baptist.prior to Christ’s first coming. A parallel passage is found in Luke 1:17. Both of these passages were to accomplish three tasks: 1) turn the hearts of the children to their fathers and the fathers to their children; 2) turn the “disobedient to the wisdom of the just”; and 3) “make ready a people” who are “prepared for the Lord.”

Schedule
On the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, parents and their children will gather for activities at the Church’s Better Living Center or at another predesignated location. The midweek activities would likely include model airplanes, pinewood derby cars, soap box derby, soap making, photography, woodworking, crocheting, vehicle maintenance, baking, cake decorating, quilting, candle making, orienteering, etiquette training, and first aid/CPR.

On the 1st Sabbath of each month, in the afternoon, parents and their children will gather for activities in nature, weather permitting. We will have Vespers after each Sabbath activity and possibly a light evening meal of popcorn, fruit, and/or similar tasty treats. Such Sabbath activities would likely include hiking; flower, bird, rock, and tree identification; edible plants identification, and animal tracks identification.

Approximately once every quarter, there would be an activity on a Sunday, e.g., bike riding, pinewood derby races, snow day, or community service.
